Accessible AfricaThis all-South African tour includes a visit to South Africa’s most renowned game reserve – namely, the Kruger National Park – well known for its diversity of habitat and wildlife. On the way to the Kruger Park, we will have time for some spectacular sight-seeing along the Blyde River Canyon, one of Africa’s natural wonders.

We will also take you to the 5-star Tshukudu Game Lodge for a 2-night stay. Interestingly enough, this lodge is more than just a game lodge – it has a lion breeding programme aimed at keeping healthy numbers of lions that can be re-introduced to various reserves countrywide. Here one can also share in unique encounters with orphaned animals, meeting them up close and personal – you will meet Savannah – the lodge’s resident cheetah and you will also have the chance to touch an elephant.

After enjoying all the game-viewing opportunities in the Mpumalanga area, you will experience the thrill of South Africa’s Sun City Complex, which comprises a large collection of restaurants, waterpark activities, shopping & entertainment venues, as well as a multitude of leisure and adventure activities on offer – from hot-air ballooning to elephant-back riding.

Come and enjoy some ‘fun in the sun’ at this, South Africa’s premier entertainment complex.

ITINERARY

Please note that the itinerary below could be running in reverse or other changes may occur due to accommodation availability or other unforeseen circumstances.

Day 01:

Upon arrival at Johannesburg International Airport, you will be met by a local tour guide for the start of your South African tour. Departing Johannesburg, you will arrive at your first overnight destination (approx. 2.5 hour drive from Johannesburg) – Dunkeld Country Estate – this upmarket Trout and Game Lodge, situated just outside the small town of Dullstroom, is the perfect place to relax and unwind after your long international flight.

Depending on your arrival time at the lodge, the remainder of the day is for you to enjoy at your leisure. Dinner and overnight at Dunkeld Country Estate.

Day 02:

Today you will have a full day to spend at Dunkeld Country Estate, with the opportunity to partake in the various activities on offer at the lodge. You could try your hand at Trout fishing – whatever you catch is prepared for your dinner that night. Other optional activities include walking and eco trails, birdwatching, horse-riding, mountain-biking as well as game viewing to observe the resident antelope species found in the area.

Game viewing may be undertaken either on foot or by horseback. All meals are included. Another night will be spent at Dunkeld Country Estate.

Day 03:

After a leisurely breakfast, we depart Dunkeld Country Estate for the well-known Kruger National Park, stopping en-route for lunch at Pilgrim’s Rest, where you will have the opportunity to explore living history in this old mining village where gold was first discovered. After lunch, we continue on our way towards Kruger National Park.

The park was established in 1898 and stretches for 350kms from south to north along the Mozambiquan border to where South Africa, Mozambique and Zimbabwe meet. Well known for its diversity of habitat and wildlife, Kruger offers visitors an excellent opportunity to experience close encounters with elephant, rhino, buffalo, lion and leopard in a natural unfenced environment. Wild dog, cheetah, zebra, giraffe and a variety of other species are also indigenous to this park.

Late afternoon arrival at our hotel, situated outside one of the park gates. If time permits, we may enter the park for a late afternoon game drive. Dinner and overnight at Protea Hotel Kruger Gate.

 Day 04-05:

The following 2 days will be spent enjoying the game-viewing in the Kruger National Park – with early morning and late afternoon departures from your hotel. Return to your hotel during the heat of the day for some leisure time. Optional night game drives can be arranged from here to view the nocturnal nightlife present in the reserve. All meals and accommodation at Protea Hotel Kruger Gate.

Day 06:

This morning after breakfast, we depart the Kruger area and head towards our next destination. We will stop along the way to view the spectacular scenery along the Blyde River Canyon, one of Africa’s natural wonders. En route enjoy a stop at God's Window, Mac Mac Falls and Bourke’s Luck Potholes - cylindrical holes formed by the swirling waters at the confluence of the Blyde and Treur Rivers.

After lunch we will make our way to Tshukudu Game Lodge – a ‘Big Five’paradise where animals can be enjoyed in their natural habitat on a smaller scale than in the Kruger Park, increasing the chances of excellent sightings and preserving a private atmosphere. Enjoy a night of luxury at the lodge.

Day 07:

Today we will have a full day to spend at Tshukudu, providing the opportunity to take part in the various game activities on offer. Tshukudu emphasises the conservation of the vegetation, animal, insect and bird life in the area. Share in unique encounters with orphaned animals, meeting them up close and personal – you will meet Savannah – the lodge’s resident cheetah and you will also have the chance to touch an elephant.

Day 08:

After a leisurely breakfast, we depart Tshukudu and head towards Naboomspruit where we will spend the remainder of the day relaxing at Ndegi Ranch, a 1800 hectare game ranch. There a number of great hiking and walking trails on offer, which provide one with wonderful game and bird-watching opportunities or one could visit the fully accessible bird hide. Mountain bikes are also available, in additional to a tennis court and golf driving range.

For those of us who would prefer to relax, you will have the time to take in some sun whilst relaxing around the swimming pool and thatched lapa area. Dinner will be served in the communal boma and we will overnight at Ndegi Ranch.
