DIS04 - 11 Days

|
Day 1
Arrive Arusha
Upon your arrival and after clearing customs, you will be
met by our staff and be transferred to the Moivaro Lodge.
This is one of the better bed and breakfast lodges in
Arusha. Although not completely accessible it is the best
we can do in the area. Your room will be on the ground
floor and any of the small steps will have ramps.
|
|
Day 2
Arusha National Park
This park is full of game and is a great introduction to
Africa. It is only a short drive from the lodge so your
first day will not be too exhausting. However you will
see a wide variety of animals and habitats. I have always
felt that this is one of the most underrated parks in East
Africa.
|
|
Day 3&4
Tarangire National Park
Tarangire NP is noted for two things: Birds and elephants!
Sometimes there are up to 300 elephants in one herd! Lots
of other animals. Some say that it rivals the Serengeti for
numbers and variety. The lodge here has two modern
accessible rooms. Some of the walks are a little steep but
should not be a problem.
|
|
Day 5
Lake Manyara
The Lake Manyara Serena also has disabled friendly rooms
that have been redone recently. I was there in Dec and they
had two with plans of making two more. The staff is
experienced with wheelchairs. The lake itself boasts good
animal populations especially giraffe. If the algae is right
in the lake there will be tens of thousands of flamingos!
|
|
|
|
Day 6
Ndutu
Ndutu is at the southern end of the Serengeti. It is the
best place for the migration in Feb. This is one of the
reasons that we must book early as the lodge fills fast and
we need our choice of rooms. This one is not as accessible
as the others but we will manage! 1.2 million wildebeests
are out the front door!
|
|
Day 7
Serengeti
Serengeti Sopa is considered accessible. The ramps are a bit
steep but the staff has experience and are always available.
We come up here to see other animals such as the hippos.
|
|
Day 8&9
Serengeti
Grumeti Luxury Permanent Tented Camp is one of the best in East Africa. It
is semi-accessible but well worth the effort.
|
|
Day 10
Ngorongoro Crater
We have saved the best for last! Ngorongoro Crater
is one of the great wonders of Africa. Picture the Grand
Canyon with a flat bottom full of animals. Great game viewing
as well as tremendous scenery.
|
|
Day 11
Arusha
Return to Arusha for night flight home.
