A Message From Our Founder

“I went to the woods because I wished to live deliberately, to front only the essential facts of life, and see if I could not learn what it had to teach, and not, when I came to die, discover that I had not lived.”
--Henry David Thoreau

These words have inspired many generations since Thoreau moved to Walden Pond. In our world of ultra speed computers and synthetic polymers I believe that they are more important than ever. Not to see a giraffe drifting through the acacia or not to hear the roar of the tiger in the night is indeed not to have lived! I believe that Thoreau is trying to tell us that we only get one ride on Spaceship Earth and we should use our time wisely. Exploring the earth’s natural wonders and meeting its inhabitants is a course of action we must pursue. We at Eco-Adventure International are dedicated to assisting you in this pursuit. Governed by the principles of eco-tourism we strive to obtain a situation in which an environmentally sound program can provide travelers with a great experience while at the same time providing income and enhancement to the local population. All of our programs around the world are designed to introduce you not only to flora and fauna of the region but also to its peoples.

In each of the countries in which Eco-Adventure International operates we have formed strategic alliances with local ground based operators. Finding these partners has been no easy task. Our standards for quality, service, and safety are very high. In addition we require our entire program to be run in an environmentally sound manner while involving the local populations. What’s more when ever possible are guides are recruited from the local area. Therefore they are very familiar with the wildlife and terrain. Also they have complete knowledge of all local customs and languages. They are not strangers bringing in more strangers but rather old friends bringing in a few new friends. This was recently pointed out to me in Zanzibar. While walking through the streets of Stone Town with our guide Barkley I asked him if it would be all right to take a picture of one of the vendors in front of his stall. His reply was: “Who Jeremy? He’s my cousin. No problem!”

This level of familiarity with the local culture and environment allows our clients access to culture and wildlife that are off limits to most tourists.

On behalf of myself and our staff around the world I offer this guarantee: We will always do our best to make your journey as enriching and fulfilling as possible and will always be there before, during and after to assist you in any way we can.

Thanks!      Ed Rymut, Founder, Eco-Adventure International
